Bird & Bear began in 2011 on a small marina in Elizabeth Bay. As locals, we had long admired the character of the place and jumped at the opportunity to share it with the community over quality coffee and food.
What started as a small neighbourhood café has grown into a hospitality group built around places with history, character and community at their heart.
Our Venues.
Each of our venues is different, but they share a common thread — meaningful places that bring people together. Some sit on Sydney’s spectacular harbour, others are historic neighbourhood institutions, but all are spaces we believe should be open, welcoming and enjoyed by the local community.

Our journey began more than a decade ago when Adam and Emma Marshall, locals themselves, opened their first café on a charming marina in Elizabeth Bay, Sydney. Their vision was simple — to create a welcoming place where the community could gather over quality coffee and food.
Today, we have expanded and grown into a thriving hospitality group with a collection of venues across Sydney, from harbourside cafés to historic neighbourhood pubs. Through partnerships with local clubs and community organisations, we strive to revitalise iconic Sydney venues and make them accessible for everyone to enjoy.
At Bird & Bear, we remain deeply connected to our local roots. Our venues celebrate community, inclusivity and genuine Australian hospitality — places where families, friends and neighbours can come together over great food, a warm atmosphere and relaxed conversation.
