our story


a family affair...

Bird & Bear started in 2011 on a small marina in Elizabeth Bay. As locals, we had long admired the waterfront location and jumped on the opportunity to share it with the community over quality coffee and food. 

What we lacked in industry know-how, we made up for in optimism. Coupled with willing friends and family, and the help of killer staff - some of which are still with us today - the Bird & Bear Boathouse was born. 

Seven years on and we've spread our wings. Opening two new harbourside cafes and our flagship restaurant, Foys Kirribilli, we're continuing our mission to make the harbour more accessible to Sydneysiders.

We're still proudly a family affair and we've got big dreams for the future... so stay tuned!
